Box blades are highly versatile tools designed to level uneven ground. With back blades, this tool works particularly well to break up difficult, hard ground. A box blade can be a great tool for leveling a driveway, breaking up and moving soil, finish grading and even backfilling.
A land plane is a good option for leveling your gravel or dirt driveway. While they aren’t as versatile a tool as a box blade, they are specifically designed for leveling ground. Unlike a box blade, a land plane won’t be able to move material or backfill. Additionally, they won’t work on as tough ground as a box blade would. For these reasons, a land plane is great for gravel or loose dirt.
